Food with purpose
Salmon Eye & Iris
A center to inspire, and inform the world about how we can better feed the planet. Salmon Eye is Eide's visitor centre and home to restaurant Iris.

Vision below the surface
All industries leave a footprint, both positive and negative. Salmon Eye is a centre that sheds light on both possibilities and the challenges of the aquaculture industry. We see things from new perspectives, encourage new thinking, and reflect on what is necessary to do in industry.

Feeding the future
More than one-third of the world’s climate emissions come from food production. We eat several times a day, and each meal is a choice. Water covers over 70 percent of the Earth, but accounts for only 2 percent of calories. How can we responsibly get more from the sea?
INSPIRE
INFORM
IMPROVE
We believe more food should come from the sea. The question is how to make it happen. We can’t increase production without evolving. Salmon Eye sheds light on the industry as it stands today, and on the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow.

About the project
Salmon Eye opened in autumn 2022 after 13 months of construction and several years of concept development. The content is designed independently of Eide and quality-assured by an external advisory panel.

Iris
In the center of the eye lies Iris. The restaurant takes you on a flavourful expedition through nature, seasons and ideas. The menu’s seafood focus is built on local ingredients and exploration. In June 2024, Iris was awarded its first Michelin star.
